Bay and Bow Windows

WeatherGard's bays and bows are available with casement, double hung or picture window style windows. So we can give you the look and operation that you want and best fits the style of your home.

Plastic Laminate Interior - WeatherGard offers its bay and bow windows with a plastic laminate interior, which is scratch resistant and impervious to water - perfect for displaying plants. These laminate interiors are available in a variety of colors and patterns:

DuPont Corian Seats - WeatherGard bay and bow windows are also available with a one quarter inch DuPont Corian seat. Corian is scratch resistant and impervious to water, and comes in several beautiful finishes.

Corian seat can be installed to provide an inlaid or insert appearance:

Low Voltage, Recessed Lighting - WeatherGard's bay and bow windows are now available with low voltage recessed lighting, illuminate plants, accent items and the window frame and seat. Our bay and bow windows are available with one, two or three recessed lights.

Trim rings are available in three finishes: Brushed Nickel, Polished Brass or White. The lens is available Clear or Frosted.

For maximum thermal efficiency all of our bay & bow windows come with our pre-insulated Super Seat. We start with exterior grade plywood as our bottom surface (what most companies make their entire window out of) and then laminate a 1" high density Polyisocyanurate Insulator Board (Dow Tuff R) to the plywood. The interior surface is then completed with the 1 1/4" oak hardwood. The Super Seat is 3" thick and has an R - Value of 9.0—the best in the industry!

The mullions of a bay or bow window are critical in helping to support the weight of the window because it projects outward. WeatherGard uses a solid wood mullion design that is actually lag bolted to the head and seat for maximum strength and support. This unique design is made out of Timberstrand Laminated Lumber. Timberstrand is 25% stronger than standard wood and will never warp or twist like typical ponderosa pine. Most companies use a hollow vinyl mullion, which gives very little support, and can be a major cause for the window to sag, eventually leading to water leakage.

To ensure that our windows will never droop or sag WeatherGard also uses an adjustable turn-buckled cable support system. We anchor a 6" eyehook lag bolt to the top of the window and another to either your present roof overhang or the house wall. The cables are attached to the turnbuckle and then it is adjusted to the precise pitch.

Finally, the exterior of every WeatherGard bay and bow window is clad in vinyl so it is completely maintenance free and will never need painting.
